Good for You (song)

}}
"Good for You" is a song recorded by American singer Selena Gomez for her second studio album ''Revival'' (2015). It features vocals by rapper ASAP Rocky, who co-wrote the track with Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, Sir Nolan and Nick Monson. The song was produced by Sir Nolan and Monson, with additional production by Rocky and Hector Delgado. Gomez helped develop the song as a representation of her process of self-realization, her confidence as a young woman, and her feelings of vulnerability.
A torch song, the lyrics of "Good for You" contains a theme of psychodrama and discuss pleasing her lover and being the perfect complement for him. It is a pop, R&B and electro slow jam that comprises a mellow, snap-drop, hip hop beat reminiscent of modern, pitched-down Southern hip hop productions, on which Gomez sings atypically breathy vocals.
"Good for You" was released on June 22, 2015, as the lead single from the album through her new labels Interscope and Polydor Records. Upon release, the song became Gomez's highest debut on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, which it entered at number nine with first-week sales of 179,000 copies. Its debut marked Gomez's career-best weekly sales for a single, and her third top-ten hit in the United States. It has since peaked at number five, becoming her highest placement on the chart. Internationally, the song has become her most commercially successful single, charting in 23 countries and reaching the top ten in Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Greece, Norway, Slovakia and Spain.
A restrained, minimalist music video directed by Sophie Muller to accompany the single premiered on screens in Times Square on June 26, 2015. The clip made use of a new, stripped-down version of "Good for You" that omitted Rocky's verse. The video, highlighted for its provocative imagery, follows a low-key premise with Gomez wallowing on several vignettes wearing a number of casual outfits. The song and its music video were well received by music critics, who commended Gomez's artistic growth and maturity, and the track's ambient production.
==Background==

"Good for You" was written by Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, Sir Nolan, Nick Monson, and ASAP Rocky, and features guest vocals from the latter.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Good For You )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Selena Gomez 'Good for You' Sheet Music )〕 The song was produced by Sir Nolan and Monson, with additional production by Rocky and Hector Delgado. Speaking of her involvement, Gomez said: "This is the most I've been creatively involved from the writing process ... every single thing I'm even remotely singing about is something I've related to and something I'm hitting the nail on, and I had to pick what was going to represent the album and who I am as a whole". She recorded "Good for You" in about 45 minutes; she was uninterrupted so she could "feel it as a whole" as the first song for her upcoming second studio album, ''Revival'' (2015).〔 Gomez described the track as "a beautiful start to the album"; it formed part of a process in which she wanted to portray her story as an artist and as part of a transitional album over which she would talke full control.〔 She said, "It's my time to embrace who I am, and I'm not going to sit down in a chair and talk about something that doesn't mean anything to me anymore".〔 The track was developed to represent Gomez's process of self-realization, her confidence as a young woman, and feelings of vulnerability.
"Good for You" was Gomez's first collaboration with a rapper. She previously had a passion for hip hop but because of her age and young fanbase she was constrained from incorporating the genre and collaborating with rappers on her previous releases. However, with ''Revival'' she reconsidered. After recording the song, there was no plan for it to include a featured artist. Attaining his contact details through her management, Gomez texted and sent the track to Rocky; he responded positively to it. Gomez said her love for Rocky's album ''At.Long.Last.A$AP'' (2015) influenced her decision to collaborate with him. According to Gomez, Rocky "literally loved" the song and recorded his verse the next day.〔 She said, "I was totally prepared for a 'No I'm good thank you', it was so great and he changed some of the production of the song, which made it better, and I let him have like full-on freedom with everything, it was really fun."〔
